The Acer GN246HL monitor looks like your average display, but what sets this one apart from the others is the fact that it’s the cheapest 144Hz monitor on the market. If you’re looking to upgrade from your 60Hz monitor then this might be the place to start. The GN246HL gaming monitor is composed of a 24″ widescreen TN display and runs at a 1920 x 1080 resolution which is typical for monitors of this size. In terms of appearance, it has a bezel that is slightly thicker than that of its competitors. What it lacks in looks it more than makes up for in price. It is currently the most budget friendly 144Hz gaming monitor out there. For price conscious buyers this 144Hz monitor is a godsend.
The GN246HL is a LED monitor that offers a 1ms response time so it’s optimized for gaming. For a small sum, it will allow you to enjoy all kinds of 16:9 content with a great picture. It’s equipped with NVIDIA’s LightBoost technology meaning that the monitor includes a strobe backlight feature that greatly if not completely eliminates motion blurring. In other words, you will be enjoying wonderful picture clarity when playing a fast paced game or watching action movies. You’ll have to step down to 120Hz in order to enjoy LightBoost, but we’d recommend it instead of going without it at 144Hz. Under the hood, it does not contain NVIDIA’s G-Sync or AMD’s FreeSync technology so you’ll have to resort to using V-Sync.
The wide array of monitor connection options include inputs for VGA, DVI, and HDMI. Lacking, however, is a DisplayPort 1.2 input. If you’re going for multiple gaming monitor setup this will allow you to do it with its VESA mount support. It offers the standard 170/160 degree viewing angles that most TN displays have to offer.
