The Acer Predator X34P, an updated version of the popular Acer Predator X34, has been announced and will carry some newly updated improvements that gamers are sure to appreciate. The display, like its predecessor, is a 34 inch gaming monitor that features a 3440 x 1440 resolution with an 21:9 aspect ratio. The monitor again has a healthy pixel density of 110 pixels per inch which means you’ll be viewing a very clear image.
Both monitors supported a 100Hz refresh rate, but the X34P will be set to this rate out-of-the-box meaning there won’t be any need for a user to manually overclock it. Not a big deal, but something convenient for those that are less tech-savvy out there. Also kept was the NVIDIA G-Sync feature that allows for the ultimate gaming experience by eliminating any stuttering or screen tearing. The display carries an IPS panel just like the X34 meaning that users can expect better color reproduction at the expense of a higher response time.
A significant change is that the curve of the monitor is now much more extreme, seeing a change from 2200R to 1900R. It is less significant than many ultrawide curved monitors out there that sport an 1800R curvature, but it is still a step in that direction. There have been some aesthetic updates to the monitor as well. Gone is the glossy plastic that covered the back and in its place is sleek looking brushed aluminum which overall gives it a more premium feel. In our opinion, this material should have been included in the original X34 for the price that X34 was selling.
The monitor includes four USB 3.0 inputs and we can likely expect the same graphical port options as the X34 – a DisplayPort and an HDMI 1.4 port. The X34P should also include two 7 watt speakers as well. Improved are the buttons for changing the monitor’s settings, the X34P has a multi-directional joystick for convenient and swift OSD navigation.
Acer has yet to comment on the pricing or on the future availability of the X34P.
