AOC AG271QX: 144Hz 27-inch FreeSync Gaming Monitor

The AOC AG271QX is the first in AOC’s recently announced AGON gaming monitor series. This gaming monitor will not disappoint competitive gamers as it hits all the sweet spots by including AMD’s FreeSync technology, a 144Hz refresh rate, a great resolution, and low input lag.

In terms of aesthetics, this monitor sports a modern image and is incredibly sleek looking with a red, silver, and black color combination. The monitor stand itself is fully adjustable and its height and angle are clearly labeled allowing you to quickly change setups if need be. In addition, it includes a convenient and adjustable headphone hook.

AOC did not skimp on its resolution like many manufacturers do with 27-inch monitors. The AOC AG271QX gaming monitor is a 27-inch with a 2560 x 1440 resolution. This combination is good as it provides us with a great pixel density of 109 PPI and as a result better image quality. Other specs include a brightness of 350 cd/m2 and 1000:1 static contrast ratio which both are something we typically see in monitors like these nowadays. As previously mentioned this is a 144Hz refresh rate monitor meaning that when coupled with AMD’S FreeSync technology this monitor offers a high refresh rate that is free from stuttering and jittering. The refresh rate has a range from 30Hz to 144Hz.

The monitor sports a TN panel meaning that while its color reproduction won’t be as up to par as an IPS panel, it will have a lower input lag. That being said not all TN panels are created equal and this one offers true 8-bit support and no dithering is used, providing an image quality better than your typical TN panel. On the other hand, it has the 170°/160° viewing angles that most TN panels provide, but unless you’re running a multi-monitor setup then this won’t matter that much. This monitor has a flicker-free WLED backlight with a “Low Blue Light” option which is incredibly useful in preventing eye straining during those long gaming sessions.

The monitor has many features specifically designed for gamers. Among these is the “Low Input Lag” mode that will lower the signal delay even further, the “Shadow Control” feature that brightens dark areas of the screen, and the “QuickSwitch” remote control which allows for quick navigation of the monitor’s OSD. The AOC AG271QX truly is the king of connectivity both in terms of peripherals and graphic inputs. It provides you ability to connect to four USB 3.0 ports, a 3.5mm microphone jack and headphone jack, and another specially created USB 3.0 port that rapidly charges your phone or any other device. In terms of graphic input options, it has a D-SUB/VGA port, DVI port, an HDMI 1.4 port, and a DisplayPort 1.2a.

The monitor is set to be released in June 2016 with a suggested retail price of €599.
