EIZO FORIS FS2735: 144Hz 27-inch IPS Gaming Monitor

The EIZO FORIS FS2735 is a new 144Hz monitor set to be released this winter. Specifically, it is scheduled to have a release date of December 20 in the United States and January 16 in the United Kingdom.

The monitor has an IPS display with a 2560 x 1440 resolution and FreeSync capability. These specs are similar to those of its main competitors the ASUS MG279Q and Acer XF270HU gaming monitors, but these do not carry an incredibly hefty price tag like the EIZO FORIS FS2735. Due their IPS panels they all offer better color reproduction over TN panels while all also sport an advertised 4ms response time, a typical disadvantage compared to the 1ms response time of TN displays.

This 144Hz monitor comes with a built-in motion blur reduction feature which works by adjusting the strobe of the LED backlight. We’ll see how much this feature will affect brightness levels when we get our hands on a EIZO FORIS FS2735. Besides this, it includes a number of presets for users to quickly jump in and use their monitors: game, cinema, paper, and sRGB. The monitor also comes with EIZO’s “Smart technology” which helps improve picture quality:

  • Smart Insight – when the monitor is set to the game preset mode this feature will automatically brighten dark areas of the image being displayed in order to improve the player’s visibility. This feature was present in prior monitors, but now has been upgraded by also decreasing brightness of areas that are too bright on the screen.
  • Smart Resolution – scans the image displayed for noise and blur and automatically reduces them for better picture clarity.

The EIZO FORIS FS2735 monitor comes with a couple of unique features that sets it apart from its competitors such as the G-Ignition function, a cloud service which allows you to quickly download and use color presets that popular professional gamers use. It allows you to have presets that are specific to individual games meaning switching between presets is a hassle-free breeze.

The company has also released G-Ignition for mobile which allows you to use an app to turn your smartphone into a remote control and to change the color settings with your iPhone or Android phone. Another feature tied to the mobile experience is its ability to display an on-screen notification when you’re getting a phone call. This can be useful if you’re really in the moment during gameplay and/or wearing headphones. It also displays notifications for e-mails, social, gaming, and information.

In terms of connection capabilities, it has two HDMI inputs, a DVI input, a DisplayPort input, and two USB inputs.
