Island Royale is a battle royale multiplayer game, released by creator LordJurrd on March 3rd, 2018. It started life as a paid-access game, but was made free as of the 29th of June 2018. Island Royale is a classic free-for-all in the style of Fortnite, to find weapons, obtain resources, battle and clash with other players – fighting to be #1, or the last one left standing. The whole game takes place on a beautiful – yet extremely dangerous – tropical island. The game is extremely popular on Roblox with almost 400 million visits, 1.5 million favourites and active players consistently in the thousands.
When you first load up Island Royale, you’ll be immediately transported to the lobby – the Island Royale version of a player hub. Here you can see your avatar standing on a podium with three empty spots: one of your left and two on your right. The lobby serves as the place where you do pretty much everything: buy items, buy chests, redeem promo codes, change outfits, enter games, meet friends and much more. Here you will be able to see your level, XP progression, your ‘Island Pass’ level. The ‘Island Pass’ is an in-game purchase which can be bought for 1500 Robux, Roblox’s inter-game currency which can be bought for real world money. With the Island Pass, you get lifetime ‘Gold+’ status, a bunch of exclusive levels and unlocks, 2x bonus Island Pass XP and 15,000 bucks, Island Royale’s in-game currency.
Once you’re in the lobby, you’ll want to start playing the actual game. There are currently two maps in Island Royale: ‘Rounds Map’ and ‘Battle Royale’ map, which differentiate depending on gamemode. The original ‘Battle Royale Map’ is the primary location in which gameplay occurs. The map contains some 29 locations and is where players will play game modes like Solos, Duos, Trios and Squads. On the other hand, the ‘Rounds’ map was released on the 22nd of May 2019. It is a lot smaller than the ‘Battle Royale’ map and doesn’t have any officially named locations. On the ‘Rounds’ map, you will play game modes like Free-For-All (FFA) and TDM (Team Deathmatch).
But while you’re working to get those Victory Royales, you’re going to want to flex your originality while you do! Lucky for you, the lobby also features a locker tab where players can view, swap and equip their cosmetics. There are a bunch of different customisation options in-game, including new clothing, effects, emotes, faces, gliders, hats, maps, tools, trails and weapons. Fancy some more gear to make you stand out from the crowd even further? Head over to the shop and purchase some new gear!
Finally, consumables are a big part of Fortnite and therefore also a huge part of Island Royale. These items provide many different aid effects during battle, including excess health regeneration, protective shields, and the ability to teleport. Health regeneration items include bandages, health kits and the ‘Blazing Bonfire’, which can heal not only the player but all the players within a certain radius of them. Shielding items include the mini-shield potion, the original shield potion (which is one of the most popular items of the game) and the ‘Tiki Torch’ which, like the ‘Blazing Bonfire’, can shield you and all your teammates. Finally, there are extra items which can provide a myriad of in-game bonuses. These extras include Glider Redeploys, which allows you to fly off of large buildings and towers, ‘the Launchpad’, which allow you to fly into the air and redeploy your glider, and the ‘Spike Trap’, which is a structure that can harm your enemies when you come in proximity of it.
Island Royale is a hugely popular Roblox game, but hasn’t been free from criticism. Some users have complained it is too much like Fortnite, the game from which it has drawn much inspiration. However, creator Jurrd has claimed that they have already been approached by lawyers representing Epic Games, the developer of Fortnite. Apparently, the game differentiates itself from Fortnite sufficiently to not be considered a copy, meaning it will probably be safe from take-downs.
Active Island Royale Codes
Here are all the currently available promo codes for Island Royale. These codes don’t last forever – in fact, Island Royale codes expire notoriously fast, often after one or two days – so be sure to activate them ASAP and bookmark this page to stay up-to-date with new codes as they become available!
Expired Island Royale Codes
These are all the codes that have recently become unavailable, meaning the developer has deactivated them or that they were time-sensitive and have now expired:
How To Redeem Island Royale Codes
It couldn’t be easier to redeem codes in Island Royale. Simply open up the game and enter the lobby. Click on the ‘Codes’ box at the top of the screen. Once you do, a panel will appear which features a large input text-box. Simply type in, or copy, one of the fantastic codes from this list. From there just hit Submit and enjoy your in-game bucks!
If you’re having trouble redeeming a certain code, remember to take note of when letters are capitalised and when they aren’t. These codes are case sensitive and feature both letters and numbers. Make sure that each code is entered exactly as listed and if you’re having any issues, feel free to check again! Hit the enter key again and enjoy your Island Royale rewards.
How To Use Island Royale Items
‘Bucks’ are Island Royale’s primary in-game currency, similar to the V-Bucks virtual currency from Fortnite. Primarily, these bucks are used to purchase new in-game cosmetics.
There are a different few ways to get bucks in the game. Players can earn them from completing daily tasks and receiving daily rewards. These rewards get larger with each consecutive day the player plays the game, with even more given when they level up. Bucks can also be received from purchasing gamepasses and gifted at consistent intervals as the player plays through the game.
However, most players simply buy them using Robux, Roblox’s inter-game currency which can be bought with real-world money. But you shouldn’t have to spend your hard-earned cash to proceed throughout the game and look great! Therefore, you’d best take advantage of Island Royale’s fantastic range of promo codes, all of which give you a lot of free bucks. In short, this is why promo codes are so important in this Roblox version of Fortnite. You can gain a lot of free bucks simply for keeping an eye out for the latest codes – and you get enough bucks with most codes to buy a pretty decent item for your troubles.
However: Island Royale codes expire notoriously fast, so there are often only a few working at a time. We recommend you bookmark this page and check back frequently to always stay up-to-date with the latest active codes whenever and wherever they are released!
Ultimate Guide to Building in Island Royale
Gameplay in Island Royale is most like Fortnite when you are ‘building’, one of the game’s key mechanics. As you play, you can use your resources to build magnificent structures to protect yourself and construct fighting opportunities. Learning to build well will help you in a myriad of different situations, upping your games in ways you never would have thought!
First, though, you need to acquire the materials first. There are three types of materials in-game: Wood, Stone and Metal. These get increasingly strong, in both minimum and maximum health. Each of these will need to be harvested in different ways. Wood can be acquired by breaking down other people’s walls and furniture – but remember, you’ll need to use your digging tool as shooting will simply destroy it without releasing materials. Stone can only be acquired by mining rocks scattered around the map. Finally, Metal can only be acquired by breaking down technology, cars or crystals located throughout the map. Finally, you can acquire any of these materials from chests that you’ve purchased.
Building is pretty simple once you have the materials. There are 4 different kinds of basic structures: Floors & Ceilings (Default Keybind: X), Ramps & Stairs (Default Keybind: F), Walls (Default Keybind: V), Pyramid (Default Keybind: B). To build any of these, just tap the relative hotkey, bringing forth a transparent blue illusion of the platform you wish to construct. Move the item to the location you’d like it and then click the left mouse button.
However, Island Royale isn’t Minecraft: you don’t just play this game to build for fun. Instead, there are a couple of different reasons to build structures. You can build a shelter around you to protect yourself from damage, allowing you a bit of time to heal yourself up. Some players like to place a ramp or wall in front of them in order to buy a bit of time to analyse the situation and prepare for a gunfight, known as ‘Location Spotting’. Some players will conduct ‘Build Battles’, building massive competing structures in order to gain the high ground and then begin their gunfight. Finally, some players use building as a means of escape in order to retreat from a fight they know they won’t win.
