Diving into the realm of zombie games, Dying Light stands out with its unique blend of survival horror and parkour-driven gameplay. Developed by Techland S.A., this franchise, established in 2015, deviates from the typical slow-paced zombie combat, introducing terrifying, sprinting undead adversaries instead. As we explore how many copies did Dying Light sell and other Dying Light statistics, the series’ distinct approach and notable reputation in the gaming market become evident. Speaking of the market, you might want to read up about the main drivers behind video game industry revenue, if it has piqued your interest.
Dying Light key statistics
Okay, so for this section we’re going to display some of the most relevant statistics regarding Dying Light and everything it has to offer, from total sales to total money generated across all of the games. Of course, that is not all that makes a good game, as there are updates and news postings that might get the community talking about the games again, so we’ll see what can be said in that regard.
The Dying Light series sold over 30 million copies.
(Sources: VG Chartz, VG Insights)
- Dying Light sold 20 million copies.
- Dying Light 2 sold 5 million copies.
- 3.4 million of those sales were on Steam.
- Dying Light: Bad Blood sold 136,000 copies.
The best thing to do is to start from the barebones statistics regarding the success of any game — the number of sales it has. Of course, being the first Dying Light game and the game that put the franchise on the map, it is only expected that it would be the one with the most sales in the franchise. Also, Dying Light: Bad Blood did not perform well at all.
The Dying Light series has accumulated over $490.5 million in revenue on Steam.
(Source: VG Insights)
- Dying Light made $341.8 million in revenue.
- Dying Light 2 made $147.9 million in revenue.
- Dying Light: Bad Blood made $800,000 in revenue.
Moving on from sales, we now have revenue. There are few special sales that would make you buy Dying Light 2 any sooner than you would intend, so the total revenue mirrors the total copies sold, with Dying Light in the lead and Dying Light 2 and Bad Blood following in that order. It’s a massive amount of money for just three games to generate, and that is only on Steam, not knowing how much more money was generated on other platforms.
