How to read these Hero Wars tiers

Each hero gets an S–C rank per game mode. S-tier heroes define the current meta when fully invested (stars, artifacts, relics, and talismans). A-tier heroes are strong picks or need fewer counters. B- and C-tier heroes remain usable in campaign or specific counters but are not priority spends for that mode.

Investment matters: a B-tier Arena hero with a max relic can outperform an S-tier pick you have at low stars. Use tiers as a spend order, not a guarantee for your account.

Tiers assume mid-to-late team level (roughly 80+) on Alliance, where artifacts, skins, glyphs, and relics matter. Early campaign players should prioritize whoever you can star up — often promo heroes such as Lian, Tristan, or Iris — then follow the campaign column in the tables.

Grand Arena vs Arena

Arena defense teams are single-squad. Grand Arena uses three squads and bans, so bench depth and faction spread matter more than one mega-team. Heroes marked S in the Arena column (Iris, Kayla, Kendle, Drayne, Astaroth) usually stay S in Grand Arena, but you will duplicate roles across squads — add A-tier flex picks (Corvus, Faceless, Jorgen, Nebula) before you max a second copy of the same carry.

Energy control (Jorgen, Phobos) and revive denial (Drayne) increase in value as opponents stack Astaroth and Kayla in later brackets.

Campaign and adventure maps

Campaign tiers favor sustained damage and healing over one-shot burst. Sebastian, Nebula, Martha, and Celeste stay relevant long after you outgrow starter heroes. Adventure event maps often gate stages by role — keep at least one upgraded Tank and Control hero even if your Arena team is full damage.

When a season adventure features a new hero (Eva, Wodryn, Kendle, and similar), Nexters usually adds a dedicated map — soul stones from those maps beat generic summons for that hero.

Guild War and Guild Clash planning

Guild War rewards defensive breadth. Build at least two viable teams in different factions before you push a single Chaos stack to max relic. Official Guild Clash calendars rotate faction bans by league; Honor and Nature heroes (Tristan, Guus, Artemis, Mojo, Alvanor) can become unusable on specific war days even when they are strong in Arena.

Keep one Progress or Eternity fallback team for banned weeks, and sync war times with your guild on the events calendar.

Titans, Asgard, and elemental spheres

Titan tiers in the tables rank titan units for Titan Arena, Guild War titan battles, and Asgard — not regular hero power. Eden and Pallant remain long-term priorities for most rosters; elemental titans (Sigurd, Silva, Nova, Vulcan) follow your guild’s sphere income.

Hero relics do not replace titan investment. If your guild prioritizes Titan Arena, upgrade titans first; if you are a solo Arena player, hero relics on Iris or Kayla usually return faster.

Hero roles and factions

Hero Wars teams mix roles (Tank, Warrior, Mage, Marksman, Support, Control, Healer) and factions (Progress, Chaos, Honor, Nature, Mystery, Eternity). Guild Clash rotates faction bans by league — Nexters lists Honor bans in Stone and Bronze, Honor plus Nature in Silver and Gold, and additional Mystery bans in Diamond and above. Check the Hero Wars events calendar before you lock Guild War defenses.

Titans use separate rosters (Eden, water, fire, and other elements). Hero tier ranks in the Titan column refer to titan units, not regular heroes.

Hero Wars tier list FAQ

Does this list apply to Hero Wars: Dominion Era on web?

Most heroes appear in both versions, but events and some kits differ between Hero Wars: Alliance (mobile) and Hero Wars: Dominion Era (web). Use this list for Alliance PvP and titans; use the events page for Dominion Era schedules.

How often is the tier list updated?

After Nexters publishes balance changes, new hero seasons, or relic launches that shift Arena or Guild War — usually within a few days of official news posts on Hero Wars Hub.

Who is the best hero in Hero Wars right now?

There is no single best hero. Arena favors burst and control (Iris, Kayla, Kendle, Drayne), campaign favors sustain (Nebula, Sebastian, Martha), and Titans need dedicated titan investment (Eden, Pallant). Build around the mode you play most.
