World of Tanks spans several related titles, but the two most commonly compared are the original PC game and its mobile spin-off, World of Tanks Blitz. Both put you in a tank — map size, tank count, and complexity are where they diverge.

Blitz isn’t a one-to-one port — Wargaming rebuilt it for touchscreens, which changed map size, combat feel, and progression.
World of Tanks Blitz has smaller, denser maps
Blitz runs 7-on-7 battles on maps roughly a third the size of PC WoT’s 15-on-15 arenas. You’ll spend less time hunting for a fight and more time in one.
Combat feels different in Blitz

PC World of Tanks layers shell dispersion, ballistic drop, aim time, and reload mechanics that reward patience. Blitz removes bullet drop, so shots land more where you aim — a deliberate simplification for touchscreens. Tank handling is also snappier on the smaller maps.
World of Tanks Blitz has fewer vehicles

Blitz’s roster is past 300 vehicles. PC World of Tanks is past 800 across 11 tech-tree nations. If you want maximum tank variety, PC is the deeper pool — start with our best tanks guide once you’re in.
World of Tanks Blitz doesn’t have Artillery
Artillery doesn’t exist in Blitz. Maps are too small for that playstyle, and its absence is a common reason veterans recommend Blitz to newcomers who don’t want to be shelled from across the map. On PC, see how to play Artillery.
World of Tanks Blitz has simpler crew management

PC assigns individual crew members with skills to grind. Blitz treats crew as a simpler upgrade resource. Combined with no Artillery, that’s why Blitz is often the easier on-ramp.
PC-only extras like client mods also don’t exist in Blitz.
What is the difference between World of Tanks and World of Tanks Blitz?
World of Tanks is the original PC game with the deepest roster, largest maps, and most complex mechanics. Blitz is a mobile-first spin-off with smaller maps, a smaller vehicle pool, no Artillery, and simpler crew management.
What are the main gameplay differences?
Map size, player count (15v15 vs 7v7), and available vehicle classes. PC also supports deeper clan features, including Clan Wars and the Global Map.
What are the differences in graphics?
PC targets higher-end hardware. Blitz is optimized for mobile, so visuals are simpler by design.
Can I transfer my progress between World of Tanks and Blitz?
No. Separate games, accounts, progression, and inventory. Playing one gives no unlocks in the other.
What about World of Tanks Modern Armor and World of Tanks: HEAT?
Modern Armor is a separate console game with its own accounts — not the same as PC WoT or Blitz, and none share cross-progression. World of Tanks: HEAT is a newer title; don’t assume feature parity across the franchise.
Which game should I play, World of Tanks or Blitz?
Want the deepest tactical experience and widest vehicle selection? PC World of Tanks. Want faster matches, simpler crew, and no Artillery? Blitz.
