‘Zone Wars’ was a Season Event in Fortnite: Battle Royale which launched on September 26th, 2019 and ended on the 6th of October, 2019. Although the Event added a bunch of different cosmetics and challenges to the game, it’s most popular addition was the Zone Wars playlist of Creative time-limited modes (LTMs) which could be accessed through the matchmaking screen for the duration of this event.
These ‘Zone Wars’ Creative LTMs were modes where users could test their abilities in a number of ‘endgame’ scenarios – games which replicate the final stages of a Battle Royale. In a number of creative scenarios, 15 players would fight it out to be crowned the last one standing. Each player started out with 500 of each building material and a random loadout. Throughout the match, players would be pressured into a sequence of ‘build-fights’ by a small storm circle slowly pushing players towards the centre. All of these features make for a fantastic gamemode where the fast-paced chaos of the final 15 during Battle Royale is sustained for entire matches.
Zone Wars became extremely popular not only with friends looking to have a great time, but also with up-and-coming players looking to hone their skills in unique, small-scale, close-quarters combat. So, when Epic Games made the decision to remove the mode from the matchmaking screen at the end of the Season Event, it was met with great disappointment throughout the Fortnite community.
Luckily, some crafty players have found a great way around it. Despite persistent rumours that Epic Games had decided to restore the fan-favourite event, the only way players have been able to continue to play is by recreating the mode in Fortnite Creative.

How To Use Fortnite Zone Wars Course Codes
If you’re not familiar with loading Fortnite creative maps or islands, it’s fairly easy. The mode was launched during Fortnite’s Seventh Season, and allows players to build some pretty amazing stuff with in-game assets.
Open Fortnite and head into the Fortnite Creative mode – you can choose it from the game selection screen. When you’re in, just walk up to one of the ‘featured rifts’ in front of you and tap the hotkey to ‘Set Island Code’. Here, you’ll be asked to enter the 12-digit code from the list above, which will load up the custom map you’d like to play!
If you’re having trouble redeeming a certain code, remember to double check the code. Although these codes consist of only numbers and are not in themselves case sensitive, it can be easy to make a mistake noting it down. Once you have entered it currently, simply walk up to the rift and enter it!
How to Play Zone Wars With Random Players in Fortnite
If you’d like to play Zone Wars with random players, as opposed to by yourself or with a few friends, the process is a little different. Load into Fortnite Creative, but instead of heading north towards your islands or the ‘featured islands’ section, head south to the ‘Matchmaking Tests’ camp.
This will display a number of fan-made game modes you can just hop in and play, matchmade with random players. One of these will be ‘Zone Wars’. Simply walk up and press your binded interact hotkey to enter matchmaking. Once you, you’ll be placed in the queue!
Be warned – these randomly match-made rounds of Zone Wars won’t be inhabited with the greatest warriors Fortnite has to offer, but you will be able to find some decent experience in these random matches. If you’re looking to kick it up a level, why not look out for one of the ‘Zone Wars’ Discord servers, where more experienced fans arrange to meet up for some action.
