Coin Master teams: how they work, ranks & how to join

Teams in Coin Master let you trade cards, share spins, and compete in Team Chest events together. Here's how teams work, the rank system, and how to join or create one.

Teams are one of the best structural advantages in Coin Master. Beyond the social side, being in an active team gives you access to card trading, spin requests, and the Team Chest event — a cooperative challenge that pays out chests and spins for the whole group. Teams unlock at Village 10.

What teams do

A team is a group of up to 40 players. Once you’re in one, you can:

  • Trade cards with teammates to complete sets faster
  • Request spins from teammates
  • Participate in Team Chest — a regular event where the team earns keys through attacks and raids to unlock shared chest rewards
  • Compete in Team Chest Leagues — teams are ranked against each other by chests completed, with better leagues paying out better rewards
  • Chat with teammates to coordinate trading and event timing

Card trading within a team is one of the most reliable ways to fill gaps in your collection. If a teammate has the card you need and you have one they need, the exchange happens without waiting for chests or events.

Team ranks

There are four roles within a team, each with different permissions:

Member — the default role on joining. Can send messages, request and trade cards and spins.

Elder — can approve or decline new member join requests (in closed teams), plus all Member privileges.

Co-Leader — similar to a Leader, can promote or demote Members and Elders, and remove members. Cannot make decisions about other Co-Leaders or the Leader.

Leader — full control. Can approve new members, promote or demote anyone including Co-Leaders, remove members, and edit team details.

There’s no cap on the number of Co-Leaders or Elders a team can have. Roles aren’t automatically reassigned — if a Co-Leader or Elder leaves, their position isn’t filled automatically, and if they rejoin they come back as a regular Member.

How to join a team

You need to be at Village 10 or higher before Teams become available.

  1. Open Coin Master and tap the Friends icon in the bottom menu
  2. Tap the Teams tab
  3. Browse the list or use the search field to find a team by name
  4. Tap a team to see its details, member count, and any join requirements (minimum star count, open vs closed membership)
  5. Tap Join — if the team is open, you’re in immediately; if it’s closed, your request goes to the Leader or Elder to approve

If a team is full (40 members) or you don’t meet the star requirement, you’ll need to try a different one. Some teams post their entry criteria publicly in their team description.

How to create a team

Creating a team costs 150 million coins. Go to the Teams section and select Create a Team. You become the Leader automatically. From there you can set the team name, decide whether membership is open or requires approval, and set a minimum star requirement if you want to filter applicants.

Open vs closed teams

Open teams let any eligible player join immediately without approval. Good for building numbers quickly.

Closed teams require Leader or Elder approval for new members. Better for maintaining an active, committed roster — critical for Team Chest performance since inactive members still take up roster spots but don’t contribute keys.

What to look for in a good team

For Team Chest specifically, an active team matters more than a large one. A team of 20 active daily players will consistently outperform a team of 40 where half are dormant. When browsing teams, look at:

  • Team Chest League tier — higher leagues mean the team has a track record of completing chests and the rewards are better
  • Member star counts — a rough proxy for how progressed and active members are
  • Team description — active teams often post their activity expectations

Leaving a team

You can leave a team at any time from the Teams screen. Be aware: if you leave during an active Team Chest event, you forfeit your eligibility to claim that event’s reward — even if you contributed keys before leaving. See the Team Chest guide for the full eligibility rules.
