What does the Rhino do in Coin Master?

Rhino is Coin Master's defence pet — it has a chance to block attacks on your village even without a shield. Here's how it works and when to use it.

Rhino is Coin Master’s defence pet. When active, it has a chance to block incoming attacks on your village — even if you have no shields. Unlike Foxy and Tiger, Rhino works passively in the background and doesn’t require you to be playing for it to trigger. Fed and active when you log off, Rhino keeps protecting your village while you’re away.

What Rhino does

Every time another player attacks your village, an active Rhino has a chance to block the attack entirely. A blocked attack means the attacker gets nothing and your village takes no damage.

The block chance scales with Rhino’s level:

  • Level 1: 10% block chance
  • Max level: 70% block chance

At max level, Rhino blocks 7 out of 10 attacks. That’s a substantial amount of coin and shield preservation, particularly at higher village levels where each attack can cost you a significant chunk of stored coins.

Rhino has no effect on raids — only attacks. It also does nothing to increase your coin earnings. For coins, use Foxy during raids and Tiger during attacks.

How to unlock Rhino

Rhino is unlocked by completing the Creatures card collection. The collection contains nine cards:

  1. Coin Gatherer
  2. Blue Beak
  3. Dino
  4. Moon Crawler
  5. Greedy Dragon
  6. Ghost Dog
  7. Lady Truffle
  8. Chinese Dragon
  9. Fire Bird

Rhino becomes available from Village 60. It’s the last of the three pets to unlock, so most players will have been using Foxy and Tiger for a long time before Rhino becomes an option. Cards for the Creatures collection come from chests — opening them in a boom village improves drop rates on rarer cards in the set.

How to level up Rhino

The block chance improvement from levelling Rhino is significant — from 10% at level 1 to 70% at max level. Levelling up is worth prioritising once you unlock Rhino.

Feed Rhino with pet food regularly to accumulate XP and raise its level. Pet XP items from chests, card set completions, and events accelerate levelling beyond what feeding alone provides.

Pet outfits add a further boost to Rhino’s block chance on top of the base level. Rhino outfits drop from events, milestone reward chests, and the Golden Pass. Duplicate outfits can be fused into a stronger single version.

When to use Rhino

  • Before logging off — Rhino’s passive block works while you’re away, making this its most important use case. Active Rhino + offline time = defended village
  • When your village is unfinished — an incomplete village with stored coins is a tempting target; Rhino reduces how much you lose to attacks during a building phase
  • When you’re low on shields — Rhino can block attacks even without shields, acting as a substitute shield layer
  • When you’re close to completing a village — protecting your coin stash at the end of a build prevents setbacks (Source: Moon Active support)

Rhino is the right choice whenever protection matters more than coin accumulation. If you’re actively playing and farming coins, Foxy or Tiger will serve you better during that session — then switch to Rhino when you’re done.

At Village 200+, Pet Crew lets you feed all three pets simultaneously, so Rhino can run alongside Foxy and Tiger at the same time.

Rhino vs shields

Rhino and shields both protect your village from attacks, but they work differently:

Rhino doesn’t replace shields — it supplements them. A max-level Rhino with three shields active is significantly harder to drain than either alone. At lower Rhino levels, the 10–30% block chance is useful but not dramatic. The real value kicks in once Rhino reaches higher levels.

FAQ

What does Rhino do in Coin Master?

Rhino has a chance to block incoming attacks on your village. At level 1 the block chance is 10%; at max level it reaches 70%. The block activates automatically, including when you’re not playing.

How do I unlock Rhino?

Complete the Creatures card collection: Coin Gatherer, Blue Beak, Dino, Moon Crawler, Greedy Dragon, Ghost Dog, Lady Truffle, Chinese Dragon, and Fire Bird. Rhino becomes available from Village 60.

Does Rhino work when I’m offline?

Yes. Rhino’s block chance activates automatically whenever your village is attacked, regardless of whether you’re in the game. This is its most important use — feed Rhino before you log off.

Does Rhino block raids too?

No. Rhino only blocks attacks. It has no effect on raids.

How do I increase Rhino’s block chance?

By levelling Rhino up through feeding and Pet XP items. Block chance rises from 10% at level 1 to 70% at max level. Pet outfits provide an additional boost on top of the base level.

Is Rhino worth levelling up?

Yes — the jump from 10% to 70% block chance is substantial. A low-level Rhino is a minor deterrent; a high-level Rhino is a meaningful shield layer. Investing in Rhino’s level pays off in coins saved over time, especially at higher villages where attacks cost more.
