Stars in Coin Master are a measure of your overall progress. They accumulate as you build villages, collect cards, and level up pets — and your total star count determines where you rank on the leaderboards among your friends, your country, and the global player base.
Stars don’t directly affect your spin outcomes or how much you earn from raids and attacks. They’re a score, not a resource.
How to earn stars
Building and upgrading village items — every village item you upgrade earns you one star. This is the most consistent source of stars since you’re building every village anyway.
Collecting new cards — each card you add to your collection gives you the number of stars shown at the top of that card. Rarer cards carry more stars. Only new cards count — duplicates add nothing.
Levelling up pets — feeding your pets and raising their level earns stars. This applies to all three pets: Foxy, Tiger, and Rhino.
Can you lose stars?
Yes. If another player attacks your village and lands a direct hit on one of your village items, you lose one star per damaged item. Repairing the item restores the star. This is why active players care about shields and Rhino — beyond protecting coins, defence also protects your star count.
What stars are used for
Leaderboards — your star count is your ranking score. The leaderboards show your position relative to Facebook friends, your country, and globally. Stars are the sole ranking metric.
Joining teams — some teams set a minimum star requirement for new members. A higher star count opens up more team options, including more competitive teams with better players for events like Team Chest.
Cards for Chests — the Cards for Chests event lets you exchange duplicate cards for chests. Higher-value chests (which contain more cards and better items) cost more stars’ worth of duplicate cards. Having more duplicate rare cards — which carry more stars per card — means access to better chest exchanges.
Gauging active players — star count is a useful proxy for how active and progressed a player is. Moon Active specifically notes it as a way to identify active teammates for cooperative events.
Where to see your star count
Your total star count is displayed at the top of the game screen. Your ranking appears in the leaderboard section, accessible from the main menu.
FAQ
What are stars for in Coin Master?
Stars track your overall progress and determine your position on the leaderboards — friends, country, and global. They also affect which teams you can join and how you participate in the Cards for Chests feature.
How do I get more stars in Coin Master?
Build and upgrade village items (one star each), collect new cards (stars shown on each card), and level up your pets. Cards are the highest-yield source since rare cards carry more stars.
Do stars affect gameplay — raids, attacks, or spins?
No. Stars are a scoring system, not a resource that boosts gameplay outcomes. They don’t affect spin results, raid earnings, or any other mechanic directly.
Can I lose stars in Coin Master?
Yes. A direct hit on a village item during an attack removes one star from that item. Repairing the item restores the star. Shields and Rhino help prevent this.
How do stars affect the leaderboard?
Your star count is your leaderboard score. Players are ranked by total stars — there’s no separate ranking system. The leaderboard shows friends, country, and global rankings.
Do duplicate cards give stars?
No. Only new cards — ones you don’t already have — add stars. Duplicates don’t increase your count.
